Zinkplaat – Mooi Besoedeling

zinkplaat1

love this packaging, probably one of my favourite ive looked at, very unique but involves something quite special.. just like christmas!

they have used a scratch off layer on ink on both sides, and supplied the cover with a guitar pick to scrape off the top layer of ink to reveal a hidden imgae, much like a scratch card.

Jive Talk - interactive packaging!

this is pretty awesome, that is all.

Sunshine Enema

sunshine1

interesting use of packaging using a medicine container, and what on first glance look like some kind of dosage form.

but contained isnt your usual CD no this is the 21st century...

sunshine2

USB pen! containing the bands album.

nice!

Elyjah — Planet, Planet

quite nice play on the name of the band with the solar system. made by shooting a pellet gun at the album covers to create this "solar system"

but i have to say their use of typography is pretty horrific.. i can see no reason why they have used a "gothic" text for no apparent reason.

i also don't like the inside booklet/pages.. they just seem abit half arsed and doesnt really work because it doesn't represent a "solar system" so has no real relevance.

The Uniques (what a rubbish band name!)

but more can be said for the packaging

They have a nice way of packaging their CD by using an A3 poster. really like the typography they have used and the interesting but slightly random graphic.

ACDSleeve x Big Scary Monsters

really nice Cd packaging, really good use of user interation with a pop out CD, all handcrafter and made to order.

Oussama Mezher

very nice CD case made form recycled chipboard card, it reminds me of the shop "MUJI" in leeds which uses very similar materails. this case also uses no adhesive and is printed in one colour.

Rabbit Children

this is a limited edition letterpress CD case, "which includes an insert with illustrations inspired by the band’s lyrics"
i like the dark and lonely colours and textures which give the CD cover a unique mood.

a nice website containing many many variations of cd packaging and design, i found alot of inspiration for my final piece from this site.
